Lost Sheep

Chapter 3 · 1 min read

Everyone reaches a stage in life where they are lost, they look left and right, they see no path forward. Your mistake is looking outward for the way back. Look inwards.

You have a plan. Shaky, solid, or bad, take the step anyway, every day. Unleash the builder within. Ingenuity is within. It can’t be taught. The hands of a builder are inherited, you become the kind of person who takes the storm and gets back up like it cost nothing, brick by brick.

Look inside, really look, and you’ll see the parts you’d rather ignore: the anger, the frustration, the jealousy. You’ll want to look away. Looking away means failure.

Building starts with wanting something badly enough that borrowed motivation can’t fake it. If it’s not the only thing on your mind, day and night, it won’t survive contact with how hard the work is.

You won’t know where the money is coming from. You won’t know where the next attack comes from, or the next betrayal. Everything will stay blurry. You keep driving anyway, in the fog, on a road you can’t see the end of because that’s the only way you ever find out what was at the end of it.

To build is to invite both flourish and stagnation, a weak foundation gets tested, and if it’s weak it fails. That’s not the end of the story. The hands that built the first time never left. They are here to rebuild.
